For each separate account with at least a 3-year history, Morningstar calculates a Morningstar Rating™ based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for a variation in a separate account’s monthly performance placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of separate accounts in each category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a separate account is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-, and ten-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics.
As of December 31, 2009, the Frantzen Large Cap Growth portfolio was rated against the following numbers of U.S.-domiciled Large Growth separate accounts over the following time periods: 394 separate accounts in the last three years and 367 separate accounts in the last five years. With respect to these Large Growth separate accounts, Frantzen Large Cap Growth received an Overall Morningstar Rating of 3 stars. Frantzen Large Cap Growth received a Morningstar Rating of 2 stars and 3 stars for the three and five year periods respectively. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
As of December 31, 2009, the Frantzen Small Cap Growth portfolio was rated against the following numbers of U.S.-domiciled Small Cap Growth separate accounts over the following time periods: 248 separate accounts in the last three years and 228 separate accounts in the last five years. With respect to these Small Cap Growth separate accounts, Frantzen Small Cap Growth received an Overall Morningstar Rating of 2 stars. Frantzen Small Cap Growth received a Morningstar Rating of 2 stars for the three and five year periods respectively. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
