For each separate account with at least a 3-year history, Morningstar calculates a Morningstar Rating™ based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for a variation in a separate account's monthly performance placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of separate accounts in each category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 25% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a separate account is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-, and ten-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics.
As of September 30, 2008, the Frantzen Focused Large Cap Growth portfolio was rated against the following numbers of U.S.-domiciled Large Growth separate accounts over the following time periods: 391 separate accounts in the last three years and 357 separate accounts in the last five years. With respect to these Large Growth separate accounts, Frantzen Focused Large Cap Growth received an Overall Morningstar Rating of 5 stars.
